Results (with explanation) This race night is annotated to show how to read these records. After this, all others will be formatted the same, but without explanatory notes. A "forward 5" means that a racer would challenge the one 5 positions ahead. In this instance, racer 11 for some reason did not race. Racer 10 (to the left, EG) challenged racer 5 (again, to the left, CD). EG chose track 1 and the Ford F100, while CD raced the McLaren M8F on track 2 (and won). CD therefore retained position 5, while EG stayed in position 10. Race 3 shows a race where the challenger (position 8, ST) won, beating the defender (position 3, FD) and therefore switched positions. | | 1. | RT | | 2. | HM | | 3. | ST | | 4. | BS | | 5. | CD | | 6. | RRy | | 7. | BLa | | 8. | FD | | 9. | DN | | 10. | EG | | 11. | TC | This ranking is the reflection of the results from ladder 1. | Ladder 2: Forward 3 | P | W | T | Car | L | T | Car | P | | 8x | FD | 2 | Jaguar | TC | 1 | F100 | 11 | | 7x | EG | 1 | F100 | BLa | 2 | M8F | 10 | | 6x | DN | 2 | M8F | RRy | 1 | Shadow | 9 | | 5x | CD | 1 | March | FD | 2 | P917K | 8 | | 4x | BS | 2 | Shadow | EG | 1 | F100 | 7 | | 3 | ST | 2 | F100 | DN | 1 | M8F | 6 | | 2 | CD | 2 | Jaguar | HM | 1 | F512M | 5 | | 1 | BS | 2 | Shadow | RT | 1 | F100 | 4 |
The positions marked with an x denote temporary positions - they were contested but are not settled, as later on the racer in that position will challenge. For example, in race 1 8x was successfully defended by FD. Later, in race 4, FD challenged for 5x but was unsuccessful (and was relegated to position 8). | | 1. | BS | | 2. | CD | | 3. | ST | | 4. | RT | | 5. | HM | | 6. | DN | | 7. | EG | | 8. | FD | | 9. | RRy | | 10. | BLa | | 11. | TC | This ranking is the reflection of the results from ladder 2. | Ladder 3: Forward 4 | P | W | T | Car | L | T | Car | P | | 7x | EG | 2 | F100 | TC | 1 | Renault | 11 | | 6x | DN | 1 | M8F | BLa | 2 | Lola T260 | 10 | | 5x | RRy | 2 | Schkee | HM | 1 | F512M | 9 | | 4x | FD | 2 | March | RT | 1 | F100 | 8 | | 3x | ST | 1 | M8F | EG | 2 | F100 | 7 | | 2x | CD | 2 | Schkee | DN | 1 | M8F | 6 | | 1x | BS | 1 | Shadow | RRy | 2 | Shadow | 5 | | 2x | FD | 2 | March | CD | 1 | Schkee | 4 | | 1x | ST | 1 | Mercedes | BS | 2 | Shadow | 3 | | 1 | ST | 1 | F512M | FD | 2 | (unrecorded) | 2 |
Final rankings can bee read from the last column of the ladder (aside from P1, which is ST): 2-FD, 3-BS, 4-CD, etc. As this was the final race night of the season (series XLVIII), the championships were to be decided by points. DN was crowned "B" Champion. However, ST and RT ended up with identical point totals, requiring an "A" Championship runoff... | | | Runoff: ST challenges RT | P | W | T | Car | L | T | Car | P | | 1xx | ST | 2 | Mercedes | RT | 1 | Matra | 2xx | | 1x | RT | 2 | Mercedes | ST | 1 | Matra | 2x | | 1 | ST | 1 | Mercedes | RT | 2 | March | 2 |
So, ST was crowned the 2001 "A" Champion. |
